My name is Sarah, and I am a Geek Mom.
By this, I mean that I am a mom who spends most of her free time scouring the internet for ways to help in the running of my home.
Also, I am a GIGANTIC nerd, and love many things that most moms don’t. But more on that later.
Right now, I am starting this blog to consolidate, for myself and other moms in the web-verse, all of the great things the internet has to offer. From recipes to life hacks to great things to do for cheap with kids, I hope this website becomes a great resource for other moms like me.
I’m going to try to keep to a schedule, as much as life allows. 🙂 On Mondays, I’m going to be posting a movie review of a recent-or classic- movie that I’ve watched in recent days. If you have any ideas about you want me to review, please let me know!
I’ll try to write at least twice a week, but it could be more if the need/desire rises. 🙂
Now, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself.
I’m a mom to two wonderful and beautiful girls, Princess and Lil’ Bit(nicknames to keep the creepers at bay), and wife to my wonderful husband, Wes. I am a huge nerd, as mentioned before, who enjoys such shows as Doctor Who, Sherlock, Once Upon A Time, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Stars Wars, and Star Trek. My husband and I are great fans of these shows, and readers may hear about news from those shows form time to time. Don’t worry, I’ll categorize and tag everything so you can avoid my nerdom if you wish. 🙂 Some other things you should probably know:
-I’m a Christian. And with that comes some things that a lot of people don’t agree with. I’m also a conservative Republican. This also comes with ideas that most people frown upon. Those two things being said, I will be talking about my Christianity sometimes, as well as my beliefs and opinions about politics and social issues. What can I say? I’m opinionated. If you feel the need to unfollow or stop reading my blog because of that, then feel free. I won’t get offended. 🙂
-I’m a big proponent of homeschooling. I was homeschooled for my entire grade school career, and I LOVED it. Right now, I’m a stay-at-home mom, and if my husband is able to keep his job while in school in a few years, I will homeschool Princess. However, since that is unlikely, she will have to go to school for about three years until he graduates, because I will be working full-time to support the household. However, as soon as I am able to, I will be homeschooling all of my kids. I will be posting a lot of homeschool resources most likely, mostly for me to have for when I do start homeschooling my kids, and for others like me who search the internet for resources to help their kids.
This is not to say that I condemn anyone for not homeschooling, although I do believe it’s a better option for kids than the public school system. However, I realize that some people are not able to have one parent stay home to teach their children because of the demands of everyday life, and that’s okay. However, I do believe that anyone can homeschool their kids, if they are able.
-I was a single mom before I married my husband. Princess was my daughter from a previous relationship, in which I was abused and emotionally manipulated. I don’t speak to him, and she has never met him. If it hadn’t been for my parents taking us in and helping me raise my daughter, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I wouldn’t have the amazing life I have with my husband, my Princess, and my Lil’ Bit. 🙂
I will never claim to have all the answers: I just don’t. I’m learning as I go, and that’s why I’m starting this blog: to help other moms like me navigate this crazy world of internet parenting. I want to help, but I want help from other people too. If I say something wrong, or you have a better idea than I present, then please feel free to share it with me either privately through email or in the comments. I love feedback from my readers, and collaboration is how the best ideas are found. 🙂
Thank you for reading, and I hope you are blessed through my posts. 🙂
